CODE OF CONDUCT

Attendance and Tardiness

Attendance to all skills, sessions, training and pre-show orientation is mandatory. Tardiness will not be tolerated. This will include when reporting to any duty location.

Teamwork and Personal Effort

  • It is one of the primary goals of MASH PIT to instill a commitment to teamwork among the staff including, but not limited to, local EMS, MD/RNs, venue crew members and staff and all MASH PIT personnel.  Therefore, volunteers shall cooperate, support and assist each other whenever necessary.
  • The volunteer’s best effort is expected at all times.

Courtesy

  • Volunteers shall always exhibit courteous behavior and professionalism toward all staff, members of the EMS service, hospital staff, and other individuals they encounter.
  • Volunteers will initiate a polite greeting to all individuals they encounter and they will respond appropriately to any greeting directed to them.

Respect for Others

  • Respect will be shown to all members of the MASH PIT staff.
  • Respect will be shown to all show patrons, music crew and artists.
  • Disrespect or abusive language toward any individual or group shall be considered insubordination and subject to dismissal of the volunteer.
  • Volunteers shall respect the rights of all individuals and will not engage in discrimination, oppression, or favoritism.
  • Cell phones will remain on silent.  Cell phones that ring, excessive cell phone use or the taking of photos during a concert or event will result in the volunteer being asked to leave the venue and will render them ineligible to volunteer with MASH PIT.

Appearance

All volunteers shall adhere to the uniform regulations set forth in the Code of Conduct.

Uniform Regulations

This section establishes specific regulations for wearing uniforms and related equipment. MASH PIT volunteers shall wear only those uniform items officially sanctioned by MASH PIT.

Official Uniform and Equipment

Volunteers will be issued by the MASH PIT staff identifying medical and non-medical staff along with identifying lanyards and assigned equipment pack. The style and manner in which any uniform or equipment item is worn, carried and/or used shall be designated in this Code of Conduct.

The official uniform of an MASH PIT trainee shall consist of the following:

  • Long pants or cargo shorts
  • MASH PIT long sleeved shirt or short sleeved shirt with MASH PIT logo designed shirt**
  • No open toe shoes
  • MASH PIT ID Tag**
  • Watch with a second hand
** ITEMS WILL BE DISTRIBUTED TO YOU BY MASH PIT MANAGEMENT

Uniform Maintenance

Volunteers shall be responsible for keeping all uniform articles clean and in good repair. Shirts are to be kept clean and pressed.

Name Tags

Volunteers shall wear the issued name tag affixed to the front of the MASH PIT shirt. Volunteers shall wear name tags at all times when wearing the uniform.

Personal Appearance and Grooming Standards

This section establishes standards governing the maintenance of a professional image by all volunteers. These standards will apply to both men and women unless otherwise specified. These standards are for all venues.

  • No excessive cologne
  • No excessive perfume
  • No excessive make-up

Alcohol Consumption and Illicit Drugs

MASH PIT Management will NOT tolerate any volunteer who drinks alcohol while wearing the MASH PIT uniform and/or providing patient care.  Use of illicit drugs during volunteer time is not allowed.  Should you be under the influence of either alcohol or illicit drugs, MASH PIT Management will dismiss you from your post and you shall relinquish your id badge, equipment and MASH PIT shirt immediately.This will render them ineligible to volunteer with MASH PIT.

Application of Standards

Should any question arise pertaining to the standards set forth in this section, the judgment of the MASH PIT Management staff and Medical Director will stand as a final decision and the volunteer will take whatever action is necessary in order to comply.
